Happy Friday to all. I am in the library typing this blog to post. I typed it earlier and it was lost. I take full responsibility for losing it because I should have learned by now. Learned that I need to write my blogs on a separate sheet of paper, then cut and paste my entry. This is probably my fourth time losing an entry, that I worked diligently to prepare. I should have learned by now but I (almost) guarantee that I will not let that happen again.
Moving right along:
Happiness is a state of mind. We can choose to be happy or we can choose not to be happy. The choice is ours and ours alone. Of course, I understand that there are intervening factors that directly influence our state of mind, but we choose the greatest influence.
Happy- delighted, pleased, or glad, as over a particular thing: characterized by or indicative of pleasure, contentment, or joy.
Happiness-the quality or state of being happy.
As the definition of “happy” clearly reveals it is “a state of mind”.
State of Mind- a temporary psychological state; the state of a person's cognitive processes.
I use to believe that in order for me to be truly happy, I needed to have all of the material possessions and wealth, my sub-conscious could imagine. I seriously believed that the only humans on the face of the earth, who were really happy, were the one with the material wealth. I was wrong. My former belief was immensely challenged when I met a gentleman from another country. Every time I saw this man, he had such a happy disposition even though he appeared, from my vantage, to have very little "worldly" means.
One day I conjured up enough courage to approach him. When I did, I kindly queried him about his happy disposition. He told me that most people in his country have little means, yet they know each other, they speak to each other, and they are, for the most part, happy. I pondered on his words for a moment, and I slowly looked around. I witnessed people with “worldly possessions”, frowning, not speaking to others, and constantly complaining, and finally I asked "this man" in jest….”can I go to your home country”?
Even though I was kidding with this man. It revealed to me that the luxuries of life , alone, will not make you happy. Your state of mind is much more important.
We have to believe in and love ourselves, independent of our circumstances, before we can truly "be happy".
What is your state of mind? Are you happy?
Have a great day.

So very true. It definitely takes effort some days to be happy, but so worth it.
